Clean sweep in front of record-breaking crowd for VRD at COTA in F4 US Championship Finale

October 27, 2021 - Atlanta, Georgia –  VRD topped every session starting the weekend with P1 (Alder), P2 (Christodoulou) and P3 (Evans) in FP1. Followed by a breathtaking pole lap from Christodoulou as he broke the trend and went it alone at the front of the pack before parking it after just 2 push laps. Championship contender Alder and VRD regular Evans had more challenging qualifying sessions back in P5 and P9.

Race 1 saw Alder storm from P4 to the lead on lap 1 with teammate Christodoulou having to start from pitlane. Alder pulled out an impressive lead and superbly managed a mid-race safety car to go onto win number 5 of the season. Evans battled hard up to 3rd at one point but eventually finished 5th just in front of the field storming Christodoulou who brought the car home in P6, after making up 26 places from the pitlane in a packed 33 car field.

Storming though the field Christodoulou also managed to set the fastest lap of the race which saw him on pole for the show piece finale. Christodoulou went on to win race 2 in style pulling a 5.3 second gap in just 4 laps before the safety car intervened and never left. Evans meanwhile was breathing down the neck of P3 as he looked for a place on the podium but with the race being cut short it wasn’t to be. Alder ended in P6 securing all 3 VRD cars in the top 6 in both races at the season finale.

‘What a weekend for our team, I’m so proud of what we have achieved on a stage as big as this one. While some teams and drivers seemed to struggle with the pressure our team thrived under pressure to bring it home on top’ Said Mitchell ‘I’d like to thank all the drivers and sponsor’s for believing in our program and trusting in the system. Also, a big thank you to the 11th hour call up Sean Rayhall for making it down to help coach the boys after a change of plans for VRD regular Dakota Dickerson’

VRD may have finished the F4 season on a high, but things will not stop as the team focus on the final FR Americas race back in Austin in just 10 days’ time.
